About JLS

JLS are a four-piece all-boy pop band comprising of Aston Merrygold, Marvin Humes, Jonathon 'JB' Gill and Oritse Williams.

The band, initially called UFO (an acronym of 'Unique, Famous, Outrageous'), rose to prominence while copeting in the fifth series of the UK television show The X-Factor. During the audiotn process for the show they were advised to change the band name for copyright reasons and chose JLS (for 'Jack the Lad Swing' or 'Just Guys Singing'). JLS, mentored by Louis Walsh, finished second in the competition - losing in the final to Alexandra Burke.
