Bruno Mars (real name Peter Gene Hernandez) is an American singer and songwriter of Fillipino and Puerto Rican descent. He was raised in the Waikiki neighbourhood of Honolulu, Hawaii.
For a brief period Bruno Mars was signed to the Motown record label, but only found success as a solo artist after signing to Atlantic Records in 2009.
His earliest success came after co-writing and supplying vocals for the songs "Nothin' on You" (a hit for B.o.B), and "Billionaire" by Travie McCoy.
He is credited as a co-author of Cee Lo Green's massive hit single "Forget You" and his written songs for Alexandra Burke, Brandy, Flo Rida, Sean Kingston and The Sugababes.
Bruno, along with songwriter and producer Philip Lawrence and engineer Ari Levine, form the production team known as "The Smeezingtons".
