About Melanie Martinez

Melanie Martinez was catapulted into the US public's consciousness when she appeared on season 3 of NBC's 'The Voice' in September 2012.

Martinez decided to audition for the TV show after winning her high school talent contest. She performed a folky version of Britney Spears’s “Toxic” backed by just an acoustic guitar and tambourine.

Melanie's voice and her unique image - complete with kooky two-tone hairstyle, impressed coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, and Cee Lo Green. She chose to join Team Adam but was eliminated from the show when the contestants were reduced from six to four.

Melanie hails from Baldwin, New York and had previously appeared on MSG Varsity's "The Talent Show."
